Description :
The african wild dog is a mammal belonging to the Canidae family. It is also known as African hunting dog or African painted dog, and it lives mainly in West, Central and South Africa.
The African wild dog is a highly social animal, living in packs with separate dominance hierarchies for males and females.
The African wild dog is classified as endangered by the IUCN, as it has disappeared from much of its original range. The current population has been estimated at roughly 39 subpopulations containing 6,600 adults, only 1,400 of which are fully grown. The decline of these populations is ongoing, due to habitat fragmentation, human persecution, and disease outbreaks.
The eco-artist MaxiDiouf calls for the respect and protection of this animal species. Through this beautiful painting of african wild dogs, he uses recycled fishing nets and recycled plastic to express the high importance of protecting the endangered animals.
